For over 120 years, the Residentie Orkest has been the orchestra of, for, in, and from The Hague. Since its first concert in 1904, the orchestra has developed into one of the most renowned symphony orchestras in the Netherlands. The Residentie Orkest actively uses classical music to connect and stimulate all residents and visitors of The Hague. With the aim of creating an inclusive, inspiring, collaborative, and diverse city. Conductor
Dirk Brossé is a Belgian composer and conductor with a career spanning over 45 years. He is Conductor Emeritus of the Chamber Orchestra of Philadelphia and Musical Director of Prima La Musica and the Ghent Film Festival. He has conducted leading international orchestras such as the London Symphony Orchestra and the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra, making debuts at the Royal Albert Hall (2008) and Carnegie Hall (2016). A major highlight was his appointment by John Williams as principal conductor of the Star Wars in Concert World Tour.
As a composer, Brossé has an exceptionally large oeuvre of approximately 1,800 works, including symphonies, concertos, and film scores. He wrote music for films such as Daens, Sacco & Vanzetti and Ben X and was nominated for an Emmy for Parade’s EndHe also worked with international artists such as José Van Dam, Barbara Hendricks, John Williams' and Hans Zimmer, and he made more than 200 CD recordings.
Brossé is known for his versatility and his pioneering role in integrating film music into symphonic concerts. He is the director of the World Soundtrack Academy and has received numerous honors, including Cultural Ambassador of Flanders, Knight of the Belgian Nobility, and recently Commander of the Order of Leopold.
