In 2027 viert Efteling haar 75e verjaardag. Een mijlpaal die om iets bijzonders vraagt: een concertreeks die alléén dat jaar te beleven is.
Featuring new music, a unique visual world, soloists, and dance, Efteling in Concert is set to be bigger than ever. At the Brabanthallen in Den Bosch, the World of Wonders comes to life in a brand-new musical story where music, theatre, visuals, and light converge.
New music
In 75 jyears of World of Wonders you will hear many beautiful Efteling music pieces that were not performed in the first edition. Think of the sensitive violin solo of the Geheime Smokkelgang in De Vliegende Hollander and the cheerful minuet that sounds from the well-known Musical Mushrooms. In four years, the music of Efteling has also been enriched with new compositions, such as the melodies of the Efteling Grand Hotel and Danse Macabre. Of course, these melodies cannot be missed either. They are interwoven with beloved themes from Droomvlucht, Fata Morgana, Raveleijn and Symbolica into one coherent musical journey through 75 years of Efteling.
“After years of composing music for Efteling, it remains a special experience to see how music brings memories to life. The fact that the Metropole Orkest is now performing 75 years of Efteling music—ranging from familiar melodies to surprising, lesser-known arrangements—makes this performance extra special for me. It is a celebration of recognition and wonder, but above all, it is filled with nostalgia and beautiful memories of 75 years of Efteling.”
says René Merkelbach, componist.
More than one hundred and thirty musicians and choir members
The music is played by the Metropole Orchestra, one of the best pop and jazz orchestras in the world and multiple Grammy winner, with an extensive line-up of approximately seventy musicians. Brabant Koor provides all choral works with more than sixty singers. In addition, there are special specials and soloists.
"The music of Efteling is Dutch cultural heritage. Almost everyone links those melodies to a day in their youth, to a parent, to a first time. When you let one of the best orchestras in the world play this music, you don't just hear music: you hear your own history. That is exactly what this concert is about."
says Annerieke Glaser-Yakoub, co-initiator of Efteling in Concert.
Grootser dan ooit
Hosting the event at the Brabanthallen offers the space to go bigger while also delving deeper. While the first edition focused on the interplay between orchestra and visuals, this anniversary edition tells a new musical story woven from 75 years of Efteling history. Familiar park characters take center stage, the set design is grander in scale, and special effects bring the "World of Wonders" right into the arena. Combined with new compositions and a completely new visual world created by GAIIA Studio, this is not merely a retrospective concert, but a celebration that takes you on a journey through Efteling all over again.
A new visual world from GAIIA Studio
The visuals are once again designed by GAIIA Studio, with Jerom Fischer as director and art director. For the first edition, the studio built a miniature world of hundreds of carved wooden layers, in which silhouettes and shadows brought Efteling to life. For 75 Years of a Wereld vol Wonderen, GAIIA Studio is shaping the fairytale world of Efteling in a completely new way: an enchanting spectacle in which reality and fairytale come together. You have never experienced the Efteling theme like this before.
