John Powell's future classic
How to Train Your Dragon, released in 2010, was nominated for several Academy Awards®, including Best Animated Feature and Best Original Score. Composer John Powell returned to DreamWorks for the sixth time to work on the soundtrack. Powell's previous work includes music for films such as Kung Fu Panda, Chicken Run, and Shrek.

The North Pole Orchestra has been an innovative ensemble for contemporary music since 2009. orchestral music. Fundamentally, the orchestra does not play traditional classical music, but ontwikkelt het een uitgesproken eigen klank waarin hedendaagse compositie, elektronica, improvisatie, pop, jazz en niet-westerse invloeden samenkomen.
The orchestra realizes a wide variety of projects, from its own concert productions and multidisciplinary collaborations to film and theater productions. It collaborated with nationale artiesten als Ellen ten Damme, Bert Visscher en Waylon, en internationaal met onder meer Sigur Rós (o.a. in Carré) en Ed Kowalczyk, met wie het optrad op Pinkpop.
The Arctic Orchestra has been a regular partner of Cinema in Concert for many years and a toonaangevend orkest in live filmmuziek. Samen voerden zij films uit als Harry Potter, Skyfall, Spectre, Gladiator, Home Alone, Pirates of the Caribbean, Our Planet, Love Actually en Beauty and the Beast, naast vele andere titels.

Anthony reist al meer dan 30 jaar de wereld rond om meer dan 60 orkesten te dirigeren en treedt regelmatig op met musici van het Royal Philharmonic, het Royal Liverpool Philharmonic, het Korean National Symphony, het National Symphony Orchestra Ireland en het Luxembourg Philharmonic. Hij heeft samengewerkt met artiesten zoals percussioniste Dame Evelyn Glennie, tenor Fabio Armiliato, violist Daniel Hope en singer-songwriters Anastacia en Ronan Keating.
Anthony’s fascinatie voor verhalen vertellen in muziek is altijd leidend geweest in zijn keuzes, van het West End in Londen tot internationaal, waar hij als muzikaal leider onder andere de leiding had over Sweeney Todd, The Lion King, CATS en The Phantom of the Opera. Hij won ook een prijs in de internationale operadirigentenwedstrijd Blue Danube Musik Impresario (Wenen), met opera’s als Don Carlo, La traviata, La bohème, Don Giovanni en Madama Butterfly.
Gedreven door zijn levenslange liefde voor de muziek van de grootste filmcomponisten van de 20e eeuw, en ongeëvenaard als dirigent van ‘Film met Orkest’-concerten, werd Anthony toevertrouwd met de wereldpremières van Superman, Fiddler on the Roof, Les Choristes, Moby Dick, Life on Our Planet en Spectre, en heeft hij inmiddels meer dan 40 titels gedirigeerd.
Anthony’s veelbelovende seizoen 2025/2026 omvat optredens in de Royal Albert Hall in Londen, Het Concertgebouw in Amsterdam en het Seoul Arts Centre. In april staat hij weer op het podium met de multi-platina singer-songwriter Anastacia voor nieuwe uitvoeringen van Anastacia – Live at the Symphony in het KKL in Luzern.
Voor Cinema in Concert dirigeerde Anthony de spectaculair succesvolle 007-trilogie van Casino Royale, Skyfall en Spectre, 16 concerten van 2023 tot 2025, en hij is verheugd terug te keren om John Powells geliefde soundtrack voor How to Train Your Dragon te dirigeren.
