De iconische stem van onze planeet, David Attenborough, leidt de vertelling in deze gloednieuwe film. Hij neemt de kijker mee op een reis langs de wonderen van het zeeleven en blikt terug op een leven dat samenviel met het grote tijdperk van oceaanontdekkingen. Van kleurrijke koraalriffen tot mysterieuze dieptes. Attenborough laat in zijn kersverse film horen waarom een gezonde oceaan essentieel is voor een stabiele en bloeiende planeet, en hoe veerkrachtig ze kan zijn als we haar de kans geven.

With this concert, we honour Sir David Attenborough, who celebrates his 99th birthday this year. His voice, his stories, and his life’s work are invaluable — and we celebrate that with a grand tribute to the natural world he has spent a lifetime defending.
The new cinema film Ocean with David Attenborough has just been released, and the international press is unanimously enthusiastic. “Astonishingly beautiful,” “a visual masterpiece,” and “Attenborough at his most powerful and hopeful” are just some of the reactions. The concert version adds an extra dimension: live music that makes the film even more alive!

The North Pole Orchestra has been an innovative ensemble for contemporary music since 2009. orchestral music. Fundamentally, the orchestra does not play traditional classical music, but ontwikkelt het een uitgesproken eigen klank waarin hedendaagse compositie, elektronica, improvisatie, pop, jazz en niet-westerse invloeden samenkomen.
The orchestra realizes a wide variety of projects, from its own concert productions and multidisciplinary collaborations to film and theater productions. It collaborated with nationale artiesten als Ellen ten Damme, Bert Visscher en Waylon, en internationaal met onder meer Sigur Rós (o.a. in Carré) en Ed Kowalczyk, met wie het optrad op Pinkpop.
The Arctic Orchestra has been a regular partner of Cinema in Concert for many years and a toonaangevend orkest in live filmmuziek. Samen voerden zij films uit als Harry Potter, Skyfall, Spectre, Gladiator, Home Alone, Pirates of the Caribbean, Our Planet, Love Actually en Beauty and the Beast, naast vele andere titels.

PA’dam is een eigentijds vocaal ensemble, bestaande uit veelzijdige ambitieuze professionals en staat onder de energieke leiding van dirigent Maria van Nieukerken. Zij onderscheiden zich door een ondernemende instelling, veelzijdige programmering en originele aanpak. Van PA’dam zingt(!) Bachs Goldbergvariaties tot Efteling in Concert with the Metropole Orchestra in Ahoy Rotterdam. Of the subtle Canto Ostinato- The Vocal Experience to symphonic metal with EPICA at Afas Live.

Ben Palmer is een van ’s werelds meest vooraanstaande dirigenten voor film-met-orkest en filmmuziek, een veelgevraagde gast in concertzalen en opnamestudio’s over de hele wereld.
Ocean in Concert is tevens niet Ben Palmer’s eerste kennismaking met sir David Attenborough en Steven Price’s werk.
Ben: “Ocean in Concert is such an important project. Steven Price’s music underscores the drama of the ocean so perfectly, and it goes without saying that the footage is utterly breathtaking. I’ve recorded the scores for two of David Attenborough’s BBC nature documentaries, but of course didn’t hear his voiceovers until the series were shown on television; I can’t wait to conduct with all the elements happening at once!”
Hans Zimmer noemde hem een ”masterclass in dirigeren” en John Williams' gaf hem persoonlijk toestemming om zijn filmmuziek live te dirigeren. Hij heeft een repertoire van meer dan 60 films, verspreid over de hele filmgeschiedenis, van stomme films uit de jaren 20 tot hedendaagse kaskrakers. Eerder dirigeerde hij uitvoeringen voor componisten als Howard Shore en Michael Giacchino, en nam op voor opdrachtgevers als Zimmer, Bleeding Fingers Music, het London Symphony Orchestra, Studiocanal en 20th Century Fox.
Een adembenemende muzikale reis door de dieptes van onze oceaan. Op het podium verwelkomen we het Noordpool Orkest en koor PA'dam. Zij voeren de soundtrack van Steven Price live uit terwijl jij geniet van de prachtige beelden van de gloednieuwe film van David Attenborough: Ocean.

Je kan dus wel tickets kopen, ze kunnen alleen nog niet gedownload worden. Kort (ongeveer een dag) voor het evenement kan je jouw gekochte ticket(s) downloaden.
