Metropole Orkest (MO) plays jazz, pop, world music and film scores, the Metropole Orkest has shared the stage with legends such as Ella Fitzgerald, Dizzy Gillespie, Pat Metheny, Brian Eno, Herbie Hancock, The Basement Jaxx and Bono. The MO invests just as much in playing with the next generation of stars like Kovacs, Robert Glasper, Snarky Puppy, Cory Wong, Gregory Porter, Jacob Collier and Ledisi. Metropole Orkest is a regular guest on The Netherlands’ main stages such as the Amsterdam Paradiso or The Concertgebouw. And has played in both the Barbican and Royal Albert Hall in London. The Orkest also plays many festivals including North Sea Jazz, BBC Proms, Holland Festival and Musikfest Bremen. Over the years, Metropole Orkest received no less than 24 Grammy nominations and worked on 4 Grammy-winning productions. Most recently for ‘Best Contemporary Instrumental Album’ in 2016 with Snarky Puppy en in 2020 for the recording of Jacob Collier’s ‘All Night Long’ (Best Arrangement, Instruments and Vocals).

  • How can I make a reservation?

  • What can I expect?

    We transform the Rotterdam Ahoy RTM Stage into a theater of grand scale with a touch of the savannah. Experience the entire animated film (1994) back on the big screen, while the legendary Metropole Orchestra performs the soundtrack live!

  • What are the start and end times of the show?

    Matinee: 3:30 - 5:30 p.m. (times subject to change). You are welcome from 2:30 pm. Evening: 20:00 - 22:00 (times subject to change). You are welcome from 7:00 pm. Be sure to take your seats 15 minutes before the show starts.

  • When does the show start?

    You are welcome for the evening concert from 19:00 at Rotterdam Ahoy | RTM Stage. You are welcome for the matinee concert from 14:30 at Rotterdam Ahoy | RTM Stage. Be sure to take your seats 15 minutes before the show starts.

  • Can I come in a little later?

    Yes, fifteen minutes after the start. Afterwards the doors remain closed.

  • What is the duration of the show?

    The show lasts (including intermission) approximately 2 hours.

  • Is there a break?

    Yes, there is a 25 minute break.

  • In what language is the movie?

    This varies by show. Saturday, March 29 (evening) is in English with Dutch subtitles. Sunday, March 30 (matinee) is in Dutch.

  • Is there an age limit?

    We use the Kijkwijzer. This is for The Lion King from 7 years and up. Children's tickets are available from 7 to 15 years old.

  • May I take footage of the concert?

    Recording images/audio with professional equipment is not allowed. You may only shoot footage with your cell phone. However, we do ask you to be considerate of other visitors and only briefly take a photo/video without flash.

  • Can I request a refund?

    It is not possible to request a refund. However, you may resell your ticket through Ticketswap if you can no longer attend.

  • I would like to book wheelchair tickets, but I can't quite figure it out

    The “wheelchair/companion seats” are for both the wheelchair user and the companion. Thus, you must check one seat per person.

  • What is a Sealed Ticket?

    Sealed Tickets are tickets that can only be downloaded shortly before the event starts. So you can buy tickets, they just can't be downloaded yet. Shortly (about a day) before the event you can download your purchased ticket(s). You will receive an email as soon as the tickets can be downloaded. If you are the one who has purchased tickets for your company, you can assign or send those tickets to your company at that time.

  • I bought a ticket, but I can't download it yet. How does this work?

    We work with Sealed Tickets. You can download your ticket(s) shortly (about a day) before the event. As soon as your tickets can be downloaded, you will receive an email from Eventix.
