Na maar liefst drie stijf uitverkochte én onvergetelijke filmconcerten van het eerste deel, openen we dit jaar de kerstvakantie met The Lord of the Rings: The Two Towers in Concert.
Maar liefst 200 professionele musici van Symfonieorkest Vlaanderen, Brabant Koor, Souvenir Jeugdkoor and Kooracademie Breda zullen het podium betreden om de herkenbare score van life nieuw leven in te blazen.
Beleef het tweede deel van de trilogie door Peter Jackson als een adembenemende muzikale reis door de prachtige landschappen van Rohan tot de angstaanjagende torens van Isengard. Ga mee op de vervolg avonturen van Frodo en Sam terwijl ze de duistere krachten van Sauron trotseren op hun weg naar Mordor en laat je meeslepen door de geweldige live uitvoering van de soundtrack.

For sixty years Symfonieorkest Vlaanderen has been a fixture in the Flemish cultural landscape. With sixty committed and passionate musicians and led by renowned conductors, Symfonieorkest Vlaanderen brings performances and creations of contemporary music as well as contemporary interpretations of the familiar symphonic repertoire from classicism onward. The orchestra plays an exemplary role in creating opportunities for young, talented musicians, composers, soloists and conductors, and makes music from the past and present accessible to the widest and most diverse audiences in Flanders and beyond.
In 1960, Symfonieorkest Vlaanderen saw the light of day under the impetus of Dirk Varendonck who was also the orchestra's first conductor. From 1986, the “New Flemish Orchestra” was conducted by Patrick Peire, Robert Groslot and Fabrice Bollon. In 1995, the orchestra was renamed “The Symphony Orchestra of Flanders” and thoroughly reformed. After this, successively David Angus, Etienne Siebens, Seikyo Kim and Jan Latham-Koenig held the position of chief conductor. Since the 2019-20 concert season, Estonian conductor Kristiina Poska has led the orchestra.
Brabant Koor
Brabant Koor is a versatile project choir that delivers a wide range of top-level concerts. The choir thrives at the intersection of tradition and innovation, passing down great choral works to the new generation. Since its inception in 1981, Brabant Koor has collaborated with philharmonie zuidnederland and other leading orchestras in the Netherlands and abroad. Several renowned guest conductors, including Jaap van Zweden, Valery Gergiev, and Hartmut Haenchen, have successfully led this prominent concert choir to great heights!
Souvenir Jeugdkoor
For over 25 years, the Souvenir Youth Choir has been under the musical direction of Peggy Hegeman. This choir sings in various musical styles, from local and international pop and musical genres to classical music. The choir regularly participates in performances of operas, musicals, or concerts by other associations. Additionally, the choir performs its own concerts.
Kooracademie Breda
Kooracademie Breda (KAB) is in 2020 vanuit de bijna 100-jarige jongenskoortraditie van het Sacramentskoor Breda ontstaan. Bij de Kooracademie Breda staat plezier in het samen zingen voorop. Dit gaat hand in hand met een hoogwaardige zangopleiding voor kinderen tussen de 4 en 18 jaar. De kinderen van de Kooracademie Breda hebben een uitgebreid repertoire en streven daarbij naar een hoog niveau. Regelmatig wordt Kooracademie Breda gevraagd door professionele muziekgezelschappen om mee te werken aan concerten, zoals de Carmina Burana en de Mattheus Passion. In 2023 trad Kooracademie Breda samen met Philharmonie Zuid-Nederland op in de productie ‘Lord the Rings in concert: The Fellowship of the Ring’ in onder andere Ahoy’.
Conductor
Shih-Hung Young, een Chinese dirigent en violist uit Taiwan, werd geboren in Kuala Lumpur, Maleisië, en kwam later naar de Verenigde Staten. Hij behaalde zijn Bachelor’s en Master’s of Music aan The Juilliard School en zijn Doctorate of Music aan de State University of New York in Stony Brook. Dr. Young is sinds 1995 verbonden aan de faculteit van The Juilliard School Pre-College Division.
Dr. Young is een actieve dirigent van symfonische muziek, filmmuziek en opera’s, en een vertolker van solo- en kamermuziekrecitals. Hij is dirigent voor Howard Shore’s Academy Award-winnende Lord of the Rings: Live to Projection en Lord of the Rings Symphony; Hans Zimmer’s bekroonde score Gladiator: Live, in samenwerking met Golden Globe-winnares Lisa Gerrard; en Nina Rota’s The Godfather Live. Dr. Young heeft gewerkt met orkesten in München, Tsjechië, Moskou, Melbourne, Perth Australië, Ravinia Festival in Chicago, Philadelphia Orchestra, San Jose, Charleston, Milwaukee, Raleigh, Bulgarije, Madrid, Barcelona, Milaan en Santiago (Chili) en toerde door de Verenigde Staten en daarbuiten. Hij was de dirigent van het kamerorkest van de Third Street Music School Settlement en de assistent-dirigent/concertmeester van de Amerikaanse nationale tournee van de Tony-winnende Broadway-show The Light in the Piazza, My Fair Lady en Radio City’s Rockettes-Christmas Spectacular Arena Tour. Komende optredens zijn concerten in Praag, Bratislava (Slowakije), Parijs, Houston, Spanje en Duitsland.
Bij deel één waren binnen recordtijd de eerste shows uitverkocht. Zorg dat je je inschrijft voor de pre-sale om jezelf te verzekeren van kaarten. De pre-sale start woensdag 5 juni om 11:00 uur. De reguliere kaartverkoop start woensdag 12 juni om 11:00 uur. Zolang de voorraad strekt.
Matinee: de matinee show start om 13:30 uur en de verwachte eindtijd is 17:10 uur. Avond: de avond shows starten om 19:30 uur en de verwachte eindtijd is 23:10 uur. Zorg dat je tijdig aanwezig bent en 15 minuten voor aanvang op je stoel plaatsneemt.
Voor het matinee concert ben je welkom vanaf 12:30 uur in Rotterdam Ahoy | RTM Stage. Voor het avond concert ben je welkom vanaf 18:30 uur in Rotterdam Ahoy | RTM Stage. Zorg dat je tijdig aanwezig bent om niks te missen en neem 15 minuten voor start van de show plaats op je stoel.
Het filmconcert duurt ongeveer 3 uur en 30 minuten inclusief pauze.
De matinee start om 13:30 uur en de avond show start om 19:30 uur. Zorg dat je 15 minuten voor start van de show plaats neemt op je stoel.
